Breast Augmentation

Our plastic surgery staff in Jacksonville feels that every woman deserves to have the confidence that comes from feeling secure about the look of her bust line. Breast augmentation is the art of enhancing the size and curvature of a woman's breasts. Beautiful curves and a full, rounded shape can make any woman feel self-assured and feminine. The breast augmentation experts at Jacksonville's Coastal Cosmetic Center can help any woman achieve a natural-looking, sculpted appearance.

Performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia, the breast augmentation procedure itself takes about an hour to complete at our Jacksonville facility. The plastic / cosmetic surgeon carefully makes an incision under the crease of the breast (inframammary) or near the armpit (transaxillary), inserts a saline-filled implant under or over the pectoral muscles, and when the implant has been properly placed, the incision is sutured closed. Breast implants are usually placed under the chest muscles because doing so gives a more natural look and feel to the bust line and the muscles help hold the breast implants in place.

Breast augmentation patients can expect recovery side effects that include sensitive and swollen breasts, some soreness, and a possible, temporary period of decreased nipple sensation. As breasts heal during the next three to six weeks, most side effects will disappear.

Breast Reduction

Do you suffer from neck and back pain, as well as the unwanted attention that comes from having excessively large and heavy breasts? This constant burden is not only uncomfortable - it can also lead to back injury. If you are tired of the appearance and discomfort of disproportionately large breasts, breast reduction at our Jacksonville practice is an option you should consider. The procedure results in smaller, more proportionate breasts that are more natural looking and more comfortable.

In the breast reduction procedure, an incision is carefully made around the areola (the darker skin surrounding the nipple) and underneath the curve of the breast, then excess skin, tissue and fat are removed, and finally, the new breast takes shape when the remaining skin is tightened and the incision is sutured closed. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis under anesthesia and takes about three hours.

Common side effects of breast reduction include swollen breasts, temporary bruising, and some pain. As breasts heal over the next three to six weeks, these side effects will disappear.

Breast Lift

The rigors of pregnancy and nursing, gaining or losing an excessive amount of weight, and-over time-gravity, can all result in breasts that droop or sag. Breast lift, performed at our Jacksonville practice, can reverse these effects, restoring your bust line's youthful appearance and your self-confidence.

A breast lift is a subtle improvement of your natural bust line. The procedure involves removing excess skin and tissue, then lifting and tightening the bust line, and finally, a careful repositioning of the nipples. Breast lift is a safe and effective way to enhance your own natural breasts in little more than an hour. The procedure can be combined with breast augmentation at our Jacksonville practice for more dramatic results.

Patients undergoing breast lift may experience bruising, swollen and sensitive breasts, the possibility of scarring, and temporarily, decreased feeling in the nipples.

Breast Reconstruction

Reconstruction of a breast that has been removed due to cancer or other disease is one of the most rewarding surgical procedures available today. New medical techniques and devices have made it possible for surgeons to create a breast that can come close in form and appearance to matching a natural breast. Frequently, reconstruction is possible immediately following breast removal (mastectomy), so the patient wakes up with a breast mound already in place, having been spared the experience of seeing herself with no breast at all.

But bear in mind, post-mastectomy breast reconstruction is not a simple procedure. There are often many options to consider as you and your doctor explore what's best for you.

Tummy Tuck

Tummy tuck is used at our Jacksonville Beach and Jacksonville area practice to aesthetically sculpt the abdominal area. The first place you notice a few extra pounds is usually in the stomach area. Even doing regular abdominal exercises like crunches and sit-ups, most people find it difficult-if not impossible-to shed the unwanted midsection fat commonly referred to as "tummy pooch." Abdominoplasty, also known as a "tummy tuck," can quickly and easily get rid of the unwanted pounds and inches around the midsection. Tummy tuck cosmetic surgery reduces girth and increases the definition and tone of your abs.

The tummy tuck procedure is done on an outpatient basis under anesthesia basis at our Jacksonville facility. An incision is made from one hip to the other, and skin is separated from the abdominal muscles. The muscles are tightened, the waistline is narrowed, and the skin flap is folded down in order to remove excess skin. The skin flap is repositioned and sutured closed. The tummy tuck procedure can take from two to five hours, depending on the extent of the work to be done. The most common side effects of tummy tuck cosmetic surgery are bruising and swelling, which may last about 10 days.

Liposuction

Liposuction often used to improve problem areas that, despite an otherwise healthy lifestyle, signal aging, flabbiness and obesity. Unsightly deposits of fat can make anyone self-conscious about their appearance. Once fat pockets develop in problem areas like the neck, upper arms, stomach, inner or outer thighs, or buttocks, even daily exercise and a wholesome diet seldom remove them entirely. Liposuction is a surgical procedure, performed for our Jacksonville Beach and Jacksonville area patients, to remove fat from almost any area of the body. The liposuction at Coastal Cosmetic Center can sculpt away fat deposits, improving your body's tone and appearance.

During liposuction, a small incision is made in the targeted problem area, a hollow tube is inserted into the incision, and the unwanted fat cells and excess tissue are vacuumed out of the treatment area and discarded. Liposuction treatments are performed on an outpatient basis at our Jacksonville facility under anesthesia, and most last two or more hours. The benefits of liposuction include a leaner, firmer physique. Side effects are temporary and may include burning, numbness, bruising, and soreness.

Body Lift

The effects of gravity over time or significant weight loss can result in a body that sags, droops, or has an overabundance of skin. A body lift is a surgical procedure intended to remove excess skin and unwanted tissue from the hip, thigh, and buttock areas, lifting and tightening the remaining skin and tissue. This procedure is especially effective for patients who have already undergone bariatric surgery.

A body lift can be performed in combination with abdominoplasty, commonly called a 'tummy tuck', liposuction, or buttocks implants for a more complete reshaping of the body. The benefits of a body lift include more confidence in your appearance and better overall health.

Arm Lift

A significant weight loss can result in surplus skin on the upper arm, just as a significant weight gain can cause excess fat in the upper arm. An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure performed to remove extra skin and fat from the upper arms. The end result is a thinner, more youthful appearance.

An arm lift is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia and takes about two hours to complete. An incision is made, either near the armpit or on the inside of the arm, excess skin and tissue are removed, and the remaining skin is lifted and tightened. The incision is then closed. Side effects may include minor pain and swelling.

Facelift

Facelift cosmetic surgery is an effective way to turn back the clock on years of aging. Wrinkling, jowls, and sagging skin is part of the natural aging process , and if you spend time in the sun, skin damage can prematurely add years to your appearance. A facelift can rejuvenate skin and restore a more youthful look by removing unwanted wrinkles and excess skin on the face and neck. Facelift is a surgical procedure available at our Jacksonville office that is intended to tighten up loose skin and wrinkles, making you look refreshed and about ten years younger.

In the facelift cosmetic surgery procedure, an incision is placed inconspicuously along the hairline, under the chin, or behind the ear. Facial and neck skin is then lifted and tightened, and the excess skin is removed. To complete the facelift, remaining skin is smoothed and sutured closed. The procedure may take up to three hours, depending on your skin's condition and desired results. Most patients experience only minor pain and discomfort. Other side effects may include swelling, bruising, numbness, and a tight feeling.

Browlift

Do horizontal forehead furrows or vertical creases between eyebrows give you an angry, sad, or tired look? Sun damage and weight fluctuation can prematurely add years to your appearance, adding to the natural aging process. A browlift tightens and lifts forehead skin, removing unsightly wrinkles and restoring your youthful appearance. The results can be amazing-you, but about ten years younger.

A traditional browlift starts with an incision discreetly placed along the hairline near the top of the head. Forehead skin is tightened, and excess skin and tissue are removed. This procedure is typically recommended for patients over 40. An endoscopic browlift involves the use of an endoscope. During this technique, several small incisions are made along the hairline, an endoscope is inserted beneath the skin, the forehead skin and underlying muscles are lifted and tightened, and surplus skin and tissue are removed. An endoscopic browlift is recommended for younger patients with newly forming brow lines and wrinkles.

Both types of browlift are done on an outpatient basis under anesthesia, and either can be combined with a facelift, collagen or BOTOX® injections, or eyelid surgery for more dramatic results. The procedure takes about one to two hours, and temporary side effects may include swelling, bruising, headaches, or numbness.

Rhinoplasty

The expert plastic and cosmetic rhinoplasty surgeons at our Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach area practice are skilled in the art of Rhinoplasty cosmetic surgery. If you are one of the people, like many of our rhinoplasty patients, who aren't satisfied with the current shape of his or her your nose, Coastal Cosmetic Center can help reshape your nose with Rhinoplasty for a new and beautiful look.

Nose reshaping, or rhinoplasty, can straighten a crooked nose, correct for breathing abnormalities, or reduce the size of an overly large nose by changing the shape of the bridge, tip, or nostrils. Rhinoplasty improves facial symmetry by creating a nose that is in proportion to the rest of your facial features. Another benefit of the procedure is the self-confidence that comes from knowing that others are looking into your eyes rather than at your nose.

Rhinoplasty is performed on an outpatient basis under anesthesia. Incisions are made inconspicuously along the nostrils to avoid visible scarring. Cartilage is scraped away to remove a hump, or it is broken and meticulously reset to achieve a reduction in size. The procedure takes about one to two hours, and side effects can include swelling, some bleeding, bruising on the nose and around the eyes, headaches, and stiffness. Daily activities can be resumed in one to two weeks after rhinoplasty, but avoid strenuous activity for three to four weeks.

Eyelid Surgery

Another popular cosmetic surgery procedure that can produce dramatic results is eyelid surgery. Eyelid cosmetic surgery, offered at our Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach area practice, can produce dramatic results and age defying results. Your eyes are one of your most important features. Don't let droopy, sagging, or puffy eyelid skin make you look tired or older than you really are. Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, can dramatically improve the appearance of skin around your eyes, making you look well rested, refreshed, and more youthful. Eyelid surgery can also restore vision to some patients whose vision has been impaired by sagging eyelids.

Eyelid surgery is a surgical method of removing surplus skin, fat, and muscle from the eyelid. Our plastic surgeons in Jacksonville will first make an incision down the length of the eyelid, and then the unwanted skin, excess fat, and unnecessary muscle are removed. Lastly, the incision is stitched closed. Performed as an outpatient procedure under anesthesia to patients in the Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra Beach area, eyelid surgery takes about one to three hours. Side effects last about ten days after eyelid surgery and include swelling, bruising, dry eyes, and light sensitivity.
