Cleft Lips At A Glance
We've all seen cleft lips. They're a tad bit unfortunate, but they can also be dealt with. Cleft lips and cleft palates are congenital abnormalities that affect childrens' ability to eat speak, hear, breath and socialize. Often times, clefts make children more susceptible to other infections, like infections of the ear. In addition, dental problems may also arise, with missing or extra teeth and also cavaties that may arise due to the cleft. Although these birth defects can be debilitating, the good news is that reconstructive plastic surgery can help restore the normal function among children born with cleft lips or cleft palates, also improving appearance and self-confidence.

Endermologie at a Glance
Today at MPS USA we will be touching on an exciting procedure known as Endermologie. A fantastic procedure for body restoration, Endermologie has risen in popularity over the last decage. Designed to reduce the appearance of cellulite, Endermologie is the first non-invasive device approved by the FDA specifically for this purpose. Cellulite occurs when fat cells protrude from around the connective tissue that attaches skin to muscle-and tends to develop in almost 90% of women at some point. Before Endermologie, cellulite treatments generally met with mixed reactions: many people swear by creams and special diets, while doctors insisted that those products do not produce actual results. The latest craze in cellulite treatment is Endermologie, the brand name for a type of roller massage therapy that has been clinically proven to reduce and even erase the signs of cellulite.
Endermologie uses mechanical roller and regulated suction to create symmetrical skin folds, temporarily stimulating circulation to the area. Each Endermologie treatment lasts 30 to 45 minutes, and patients typically need dozen or more treatments for visible results. After the desired effect is achieved, the patient will need to maintain the effects of the cellulite treatment with additional Endermologie sessions at less frequent intervals. Because this cellulite treatment addresses only the appearance of cellulite, and not the root causes, bumps and dimples may reappear in the months after Endermologie treatments cease unless maintenance sessions are performed.

Rhinoplasty - The Procedure
Rhinoplasty, more commonly known as the 'Nose Job' or nose surgery can be used to correct physiological abnormalities and injuries. This common surgery can improve one's appearance by creating a nose that is proportionate to the rest of one's facial features, thus complimenting one's natural beauty. The results are often an increase in self-confidence and self-esteem.
Nose surgery usually takes 1-2 hours, but some procedures, depending on how complicated, can take up to several hours. Your plastic surgeon will separate the skin of the nose, from it supporting structure of bone a cartilage. After this is done, the plastic surgeon will sculpt the desired shape of your nose. This is very much on a case by case basis, as every patient will have different needs. The skin is then placed over the new structure your plastic surgeon created.
Many plastic surgeons choose to perform rhinoplasty from within the nose, which means that the incision is done inside the nostrils. This means no scarring for the patient. Other plastic surgeons, usually for more complicated procedures, choose to make the incision from the outside. This does leave the patient with a scar, but it is typically not noticeable.
After the completion of surgery, a splint will be placed on your nose to help maintain the shape and also for protection.

About Abdominoplasty Procedure
The abdominoplasty procedure, commonly referred to as the "Tummy Tuck" can be an effective way of eliminating excess fatty tissues and stretched skin, and even tightening weak and collapsed abdominal muscles, dramatically flattening the waistline. A full abdominoplasty will take anywhere from 2-5 hours. A partial abdominoplasty usually will take less than 2 hours.
The Procedure
Your plastic surgeon will make an incision from hipbone to hipbone. This is done right above the pubic area. A second incision is then made to free the navel from the surrounding tissue. With partial abdominoplasty, the incision is much shorter and the navel may not be moved, although it may be pulled into an unnatural shape as the skin is tightened and stitched.
Your plastic surgeon will then separate your skin from the abdominal wall, all the way up to your ribs. This will then reveal the vertical muscles in your abdomen. The muscles are then pulled close together, and then stitched into the new position. This is known as muscle tightening and will give you a firmer abdominal wall, and a narrower waistline.
The skin flap, is then stretched down and the extra skin is removed. For your navel, a new hole is cut and stitched in place. The incisions will then be stitched, and a temporary tube may be inserted to drain any excess fluid from the surgical area.
In a partial abdominoplasty the skin is only separated between the incision line and the navel.
