Liposuction

Sometimes even a healthy diet and consistent exercise regime can fail to procedure the results desired for every part of your body. Many men and women struggle with localized pockets of fat in a particular area of their body which is more resistant to diet and exercise than other areas of their body. This is largely due to genetics. We are pre-disposed to gain and hold on to weight in certain areas of our bodies and it’s different for everyone. Some people seem to only gain weight in all the more desirable areas and for others, just the opposite is true.

If you are tired of not getting the results you desire on your own, are in good health and are in a normal, healthy weight range, you may be a good candidate for Liposuction. Liposuction can be performed on nearly any part of the body including lower legs, hips, thighs, buttocks, back, abdomen, chest, upper arms, neck, along the jaw line and cheeks. These days there are a few different types of Liposuction coming onto the market, but the most commonly used is called Tumescent Liposuction.

Liposuction – Is It For Me?

The idea of Liposuction appeals to many people, what people don’t always realize, however, is that Liposuction is not a treatment for obesity. Liposuction, instead, is a valuable tool that is best used to improve a specific area of the body which has been resistant to change through diet and exercise alone. Liposuction is ideal for people who are in good health, at a steady, healthy weight and have realistic expectations for their results.

Many people who are in good health and at a healthy weight struggle with a part of their body with is disproportionately large and seems to hold on to fat even when the rest of your body is losing it. Liposuction can help to improve these areas by literally sucking out the excess fat cells in that area. Liposuction can be performed on virtually any area of the body. The most common areas are the mid-section, arms, and thighs.

Take a look at our Liposuction Before and After Gallery to get an idea of what kind of results are possible. Discuss your Liposuction options with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in your area.

A Better Body Contour with Liposuction

While Liposuction is not a treatment for obesity or a weight loss solution, it is a valuable tool for improving specific trouble areas of the body which have stubborn fatty deposits. Liposuction is ideal for people who are in good, healthy shape and are struggling with a specific area of their body which, for whatever reasons, has been resistant to change through diet and exercise alone. Often a Liposuction procedure may be done in conjunction with other body contouring procedures such as a Tummy Tuck, Arm Lift, Thigh Lift, Buttock Lift or Face Lift.

In a Liposuction procedure, your plastic surgeon will make several tiny incisions in the area to be treated. Next, a long, skinny tube called a cannula is inserted in the incisions and literally sucks the fat cells out like a vacuum. There is a limit to how much fat can safely be removed at a time. It is important when considering Liposuction to have realistic results. Take a look at our Liposuction Before and After Gallery to get an idea of what kind of results are possible.
