Facial Rejuvenation – Eyelid Lift

The skin around our eyes is one of the areas of the face that changes the most as we age. In the most extreme cases, excess skin on the upper eyelid or brow area can even impair vision. Of course, more common is the sagging, wrinkling and puffiness of the upper and lower eyelids. When this happens this can cause the appearance of being sleepy or upset and as we all know, how we look oftentimes directly effects how we feel and the way we are perceived.

You could be a good candidate for Blepharoplasty- otherwise known as Eyelid Surgery- if you are in good health, have heavy or dropping eyelids, bags under your eyes, and have realistic expectations. These conditions should be discussed between you and your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon of choice. Once you have found your Surgeon and scheduled your procedure, you should expect it to take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours with a complete recovery time of up to 10 days.

Blepharoplasty – Eyelid Rejuvenation

With age, the layers that make up our eyelids- skin, muscle and fat- begin to lose their structure, sag and droop causing us to look more tired and older than we are. There are three types of Eyelid Lift procedures: Inner Lower, Outer Lower, and Upper Eyelid. These refer to where the incisions are made, either on the inside of the eyelid or the outside, on either the upper or lower eyelid. Of course, one can opt for both upper and lower eyelid rejuvenation. In the procedure excess fat is removed and, on occasion, excess skin and muscle may also be removed. The results are a smoother, more alert and youthful eyelid appearance.

While Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Lift) can improve many common signs of aging, it cannot improve on crows feet, dark under-eye circles or a sagging brow. To improve eyelids and these other common problems, a Blepharoplasty in combination with a Brow Lift, Face Lift or Dermal Fillers may be the best option to create the desired results.

Understanding Blepharoplasty- The Eyelid Surgery

One of the areas of the face that changes the most as we age is the skin around our eyes. In the most extreme cases, excess skin on the upper eyelid or brow area can even cause the eyes to no longer be in a fully open position. Of course, more common is the sagging of the upper and lower eyelids and creases. In any case, this can cause the appearance of being sleepy or down and as we all know, how we look oftentimes directly effects how we feel.

You could be a good candidate for Blepharoplasty- the technical term for Eyelid Surgery- if you are in good health, have heavy or dropping eyelids, bags under your eyes, and have a realistic goal. These conditions should be discussed between you and your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon of choice. Once you have found your Surgeon and scheduled your procedure, you should expect it to take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours with a complete recovery time of up to 10 days.

Improving the Appearance of Sagging Skin Around the Eyes with Eyelid Surgery – Blepharoplasty

Facial rejuvenation procedures are among some of the most popular cosmetic procedures performed today.  Patients interested in improving the appearance of drooping skin around they eyes may be good candidates for Blepharoplasty. Eyelid surgery can lift drooping upper lids and reduce the puffy bags that form below your eyes – features that may be making you look older and more tired than you feel.

Some patients benefit from choosing to have other reshaping facial surgery performed at the same time as their eyelid surgery. Some of the most common procedures performed in conjunction with eyelid surgery include a forehead lift, face lift and/or improvements to the nose & chin. Your board certified plastic surgeon will help you determine if additional procedures will be needed to achieve your desired results.

The first step in achieving facial rejuvenation is scheduling a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area. By selecting a surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, you can rest assured that your surgeon has the skills and experience needed to help you make informed decisions about cosmetic surgery.

Eyelid Surgery – Blepharoplasty

When the effects of aging and genetics set in, some find that the skin around their eyes makes them look older than they want to.  The appearance of bags or puffiness under the eyes, excess sagging skin, droopiness of the lower eyelids and fine wrinkles on the lower lids are all things than can be corrected with a procedure called blepharoplasty.  After undergoing blepharoplasty, patients appear more youthful.

The outpatient procedure on both upper and lower lids takes about two hours. Small incisions are made at various points in or around the eye depending on weather or not the upper or lower lid is being corrected.  Through these incisions, fat can be redistributed or removed and the skin can be tightened.  The incision lines for both upper and lower eye lid procedures blend nicely with natural structure of the eye are are hardly noticeable.

Other procedures such as mid face lift, face lift, and neck lift in conjunction with blepharoplasty to restore your youthful look. The knowledge you receive during a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon will help you decide if blepharoplasty alone will offer the results you are looking for.
