Tummy Tuck Surgery for an Improved Mid-Section

Our abdomen is one of the many places fat likes to  cling to. It is also one of the parts of our body that is most resistant to traditional diet and exercise. You don’t have to live with less than ideal midsection. With the help of a skilled plastic surgeon, Abdominoplasty can give you the midsection you’ve always wanted.

Abdominoplasty or more commonly known as tummy tuck surgery, is a surgical procedure that dramatically reduces the appearance of fat around the abdomen. While traditional diet and exercise is the ideal way to battle the bulge, not everyone is able to achieve the results they desire through these methods. Abdominoplasty tightens abdominal muscles and removes excess skin and fat from your midsection. In many cases, liposuction may be used in conjunction with tummy tuck surgery to produce optimal results.

The first step to achieving the midsection of your dreams is finding a board certified plastic surgeon whom you are confident will be able to produce the results you are looking for. My Plastic Surgeon USA can help you find a qualified skilled plastic surgeon in your area.

Recovering From Abdominoplasty – What to Expect After a Tummy Tuck

During your abdominoplasty consultation your board certified plastic surgeon will explain what you can expect before during and after your procedure. Recovering from abdominoplasty takes time and it is important to follow the directions given to you by your surgeon very closely. Here are a few things you can expect during recovery from tummy tuck surgery.

Upon waking up from the procedure, you will feel very groggy and your abdomen will be swollen. It is important that if you feel any discomfort you take your pain medication. Waiting until the pain is unbearable will only slow the healing process and may actually require you to take more pain medication to get the pain to subside. As time passes the pain and swelling will go down. After a few days the swelling should be almost gone and you should be left with some bruising.

You will be given direction as to what you can and shouldn’t do in the weeks after surgery. It is important to follow these directions even if you feel ok to limit the risk of post-op complications. There will be restrictions on movement, directions on showering and changing the dressings and how and when to take medications. My Plastic Surgeon USA can not stress enough the importance of closely following your surgeons directions. Doing so will not only lower the risk of complication but also give you the fastest recovery time.

The details of all post op care will be explained thoroughly before your procedure giving you the opportunity to ask any questions and address any concerns you may have. Abdominoplasty is a serious surgery. It is important to remember that recovery takes time.

A Firmer, Slender Midsection with Abdominoplasty – Tummy Tuck

Our abdomen is one of the many parts of the body that likes to hold on to fat. Once fat has made itself at home around the midsection, it is often very difficult to get rid of through traditional diet and exercise. Additionally abdominal muscles that have become weakened or separated may need help returning to a normal, tighter position. A skilled plastic surgeon uses abdominoplasty to improve the appearance of of your midsection.

Abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck, is a procedure to correct a protruding abdomen with lose skin resulting from loose or separated abdominal muscles, weight gain or pregnancy. Using abdominoplasty, your surgeon is able to tighten abdominal muscles and remove excess fatty tissue and skin to improve the appearance. In some cases, Liposuction can be used in conjunction with abdominoplasty to produce optimal results.

It is important to note that andominoplasty, like lipsouction, is not a form of weight loss. Patients who benefit from abdominoplasty are in good health, have realistic expectations and are in relatively good shape. Contact a board certified plastic surgeon in your area to schedule your consultation and learn more about how you can benefit from tummy tuck surgery.

Tummy Tuck Scars

One of the concerns people have when considering a Tummy Tuck surgery are the scars. While some scarring is to be expected, the size and length of the scar greatly depends on the severity of the procedure. Patients who are in need of more extensive work will have a larger scar than those who’s lower abdomen is all that needs addressing.

Patients with abdomens which have a great deal of loose skin and pockets of fat will most likely need a full tummy tuck. During a full tummy tuck, your surgeon will tighten the abdominal muscles, removes fat deposits using liposuction and removes the excess sagging skin. Patients who undergo an extensive procedure such as this will generally have a scar that runs hip to hip. Patients who’s lower abdomen is the only area needing to be addressed may get away with a smaller scar as the procedure is not nearly as extensive.

When abdominoplasty is performed by a board certified plastic surgeon, they do their best to limit the necessary incision to reduce scarring. When possible they place the incisions in such a place that scarring can be hidden by clothing or a swim suit later on. See some examples of Tummy Tuck results and the scars in our Before and After Abdominoplasty Gallery.
