What Are Realistic Expectations for Plastic Surgery Results?

Often when reading about qualifications for ideal candidate for a particular plastic surgery procedure, the phrase “have realistic expectations” is included. This is, in fact, an extremely important qualifying trait, but… just what, exactly are “realistic” expectations? This question can be more difficult to answer because what may be realistic for one person, may not for another. Results and procedures, like the people who undergo them, are highly individualized and unique to that person. Every patient walks in with a different set of goals, needs, concerns, challenges and desires and the plastic surgeon must work with those as well as the physical limitations of the patient.

One good way to get a ballpark idea of “realistic” expectations is by looking at before and after photo galleries. Look at photo’s of people who’ve undergone the procedure you are considering. You will start to understand what may or may not be possible. The next step to understanding if the results you desire are realistic will be having a one on one consultation with a plastic surgeon who will evaluate your individual case. He or she will be able to then tell you if what you wish to achieve is possible or not.

Have You Seen The Results?

At My Plastic Surgeon USA we pride ourselves on providing reliable information on Plastic Surgery Procedures for our users as well as connecting our users with qualified, certified, and uber-skilled plastic surgeons. We could talk until we’re blue in the face about several of the talented Plastic Surgeons featured on our site, but frankly, that would get boring after a while and since this is blog, it wouldn’t be so much talking as writing and then you would be reading it- or not reading it, as would likely be the case, since it would be pages and pages long… not unlike this sentence is becoming.

So, here’s an idea: Go look at the work these Plastic Surgeons have been able to give their patients in our Before and After Photo Gallery. When you stumble across some work that inspires you (which we feel pretty certain you will, several times over), click on the Plastic Surgeon listed for that work and then maybe read a little about them, their skills and qualifications. If you still feel inspired, contact them and schedule a consultation to learn what they could do for you. After all, a photo is worth a thousand words, so why not start with the photos?

Follow the link to go to our Online Before and After Gallery! Warning: There are currently 3794 patients available for viewing in our gallery, that’s approximately worth 3,794,000,000 words!

Face Lift with a Neck Lift

As we age our skin begins to lose it’s elasticity and we lose valuable fat, particularly in the face. All of these things, coupled with the constant movement of facial expressions and the effects of gravity all work together in creating common signs of aging. Creases, wrinkles, fine lines, crows feet, sagging jowls and so on, can all make a person look older than they are or even make a person appear more sad, tired or upset than they are.

These days, more than ever before, there are a plethora of options on the market for facial rejuvenation. There are non-invasive treatments, minimally invasive treatments and then, of course, their are surgical procedures. Each of these is designed to best suite varying degrees of aging severity. For those with more advanced signs of aging, or excess sagging skin, a Face Lift and Neck Lift is still the most effective options for creating a smoother, more youthful appearance.

Rhinoplasty Surgery

A nose which is too large in proportion to the rest of the face can make the other features of the face appear much smaller than they actually are, and vice versa. There are several aesthetic reasons one may have for desiring a change in their nose through Rhinoplasty surgery besides a nose being too large or too small on the whole. The nostrils may be too large, too small or misshapen, the profile of the nose may show indentations or bumps which are undesirable and so on.  In addition to aesthetic reasons, there are also functional reasons someone may seek out a Rhinoplasty procedure. Difficulty breathing through the nose is a common problem and most often due to a deviated septum.

All of these issues can be resolved through Rhinoplasty, or Nose Surgery. The precise incision placement and procedure depends on the individual’s needs and goals, but Rhinoplasty has helped countless people achieve the aesthetic facial harmony and nose function they desire. To learn more about Rhinoplasty and if it may be right for you, contact a board certified Plastic Surgeon in your area for a consultation.

Visualizing Potential Outcomes of Procedures

It’s impossible to know what results your plastic surgery procedure will yield, but more and more these days plastic surgeons are trying to find ways to give their patients tools to see into the future and at least get a peak at the possible outcomes that lie ahead. One of the oldest ways is through looking at previous patients before and after photos of the procedure you are considering. Look at several plastic surgeons before and after galleries. You will begin to notice, that even among highly trained and experienced plastic surgeons there is often subtle aesthetic differences. Finding a plastic surgeon who shares your eye for what you think looks good is very important to the success of your personal outcome.

Take a look at our Before and After Photo Gallery!

In more recent years, new technology has enabled many plastic surgeons to use 3-dimensional imaging so that they can actually show you how you would look with the plastic surgery procedure you are considering. One of the latest versions of this is SurgeryMorph, which is a tool that you can actually use from home to upload your photo, make the changes you desire on it and then you can even send your before and after photos to your plastic surgeon to discuss what’s possible. Some sites now even have a tool that shows a step-by-step animation of each procedure so that you can fully understand how it works without having to read pages and pages of mindless description.

There are many exciting tools out there today to help you visualize the potential outcomes of the procedure you desire. Take some time to explore these options and talk to you doctor about what is really possible and what to expect.

The skin around the face and neck is delicate and often the first part of our bodies to show signs of aging. From creases, to fine lines, crows feet, sagging jowls, and so on, it may seem like you suddenly look much older than you are and can even create a sad, tired, or upset appearance. There are many facial rejuvenation treatments on the market today, yet still one of the most popular and effective for treating signs of aging around the face and neck is the Face and Neck Lift.

Better Nose Through Rhinoplasty

A nose that is out of proportion with the rest of the face can disrupt facial harmony and cause low self-esteem. There are many reasons which cause a person to be unhappy with their nose. A nose which is too large or too small for the face can throw off the other features of the face. A nose which has bumps or indentations evident in the profile or which the nostrils are too large or misshapen, can all be fixed by a Rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty is a surgery in which the shape or function of the nose is improved. Functional nose issues include a deviated septum- which is the most common and causes a blockage in the airway making it difficult to breathe properly. Rhinoplasty, also called a Nose Surgery, can improve both the size, shape and function of the nose. Rhinoplasty may also be done in conjunction with other facial rejuvenation procedures such as a chin or cheek implant to ensure a better facial harmony and symmetry overall.
