Abdominoplasty Recovery

During your abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, consultation your Plastic Surgeon will explain what you can expect before, during, and after your procedure. Recovering from abdominoplasty, as with any surgery, takes time and it is important to follow the directions given to you by your surgeon very closely.

When you are waking up from the procedure, you will feel very groggy and your abdomen will be swollen. It is important that if you feel any discomfort you take your pain medication. Waiting until the pain is unbearable will only slow the healing process and may actually require you to take more pain medication to get the pain to subside. As time passes the pain and swelling will go down. After a few days the swelling should be almost gone and you will be left with some bruising.

You will be given direction as to what you can and can’t do in the weeks following surgery. It is important to follow these directions even if you think you are fine in order to limit the risk of post-op complications. There will be restrictions on movement, directions on showering and changing the dressings and how and when to take medications. Following doctor’s orders will not only lower the risk of complication but also give you a quicker recovery time.

The details of all post op care will be explained thoroughly before your procedure giving you the opportunity to ask any questions and address any concerns you may have. It is important to remember that recovery takes time and to listen to your body.

My Plastic Surgeon Online Before and After Gallery

It can be hard to imagine what kind of results any given plastic surgery procedure may be able of achieving for you. Some Plastic Surgeons may only offer these photo galleries in the privacy of their office, which may be viewed upon a consultation. However, for the most part, you can at least get an idea of the kind of results which may be achieved through the plastic surgery procedure you are considering.

You will want to keep in mind that every patient is different. Each comes in with a different set of challenges, needs and desires and good Plastic Surgeons then create a corresponding plan, catered to meeting these specific challenges, needs and desires, so your results will be individual and specific to you. Great Plastic Surgeons can create beautiful, natural-looking results for all their patients.

Face and Neck Lift

It’s Thanksgiving weekend and some of us may be feeling the “gobble-gobble” a little more than others of us. With age our skin seems to sag and hang. Thank you gravity. One of the areas it is most noticeable is in the neck and face, particularly that area of the neck just below the jaw line. And while “facial workouts” may be fun (to watch someone else do) they are not able to create any kind of substantial rejuvenation. If you would like a more smooth, tight, and defined jaw line, you may want to consider a neck and/or face lift.

Neck and face lifts can be done in conjunction with each other or other facial rejuvenation procedures such as blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), rhinoplasty (nose surgery), liposuction or lip augmentation. Removing the excess sagging skin creates a tighter more youthful appearance. If you are tired of your “gobble-gobble” neck sag, find a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area today to start discussing your options for tomorrow!

A More Balanced Face Through Rhinoplasty

Most people are unhappy with their noses for either aesthetic or health reasons. Deviated Septums are one of the most common reasons people choose to have Rhinoplasty. Having one can make it very difficult to breath properly. The other popular reason people choose Rhinoplasty is for it’s aesthetic benefits. Some people feel self-conscious that their noses are too large or disproportionate to the rest of their face, some have bumps and disfigurements caused by injury, and still others feel their noses are too small or undefined.

The procedure itself, whatever the reason, generally takes about an hour to complete and the results are instantaneous. Of course there will be some initial swelling and bruising, but it should go down considerably over the coming days and weeks. Your bandages will then be removed anywhere from one to two weeks after the procedure and most patients return to work within a matter of days. Of course, every patient’s recovery is different, so it is important that you listen to your body and consult with your doctor if you have any questions.

Tummy Tuck – Abdominoplasty

Our abdomen is one of the many parts of the body fat likes to collect. Once fat has made it’s self at home around the midsection, it is often very difficult to get rid of through traditional diet and exercise. Additionally abdominal muscles that have become weak or separated may need help returning to a normal position. A skilled plastic surgeon uses  abdominoplasty to improve the appearance of of your midsection.

Tummy Tuck Before and After Photo Gallery!

Abdominoplasty, more commonly known as a tummy tuck, is used to correct a protruding abdomen resulting from weak abdominal muscles, weight gain or pregnancy. Using abdominoplasty, your surgeon is able to tighten abdominal muscles and excess fatty tissue and skin are removed  improving the body contour. In some cases, Liposuction can be used in conjunction with abdominoplasty to produce optimal results.

It is important to note that andominoplasty is not a form of weight loss. Patients who benefit from abdominoplasty are in good health and relatively good shape. Contact a board certified plastic surgeon in your area to schedule your consultation and learn more about how you can benefit from tummy tuck surgery.

Better Arms Through Brachioplasty

Do you feel like you’ve grown wings, but cannot fly? Many men and women suffer from sagging underarm fat and skin. This can be due both in part to being genetically predisposed to gather and store excess weight there and also a consequence or losing weight quickly leaving your skin unable to adjust to the weight loss. As we get older our skin loses its elasticity as well, causing our skin to sag and hang. If you are frustrated with underarms that keep waving long after you’ve stopped, you may be considering Brachioplasty.

Brachioplasty, also called Arm Lift, is a procedure that tightens the excess skin under the arm and also can involve liposuction to remove unwanted fat cells that have been resistant to diet and exercise. Brachioplasty, when done after weight loss to cure hanging skin, is often done in addition to several other lifting procedures as a part of a total Body Lift which generally includes all or some variation of the following: Tummy Tuck, Thigh Lift, Breast Lift, Face and Neck Lift. You will likely be considered a good candidate for Brachioplasty if you are in good health, at a stable, healthy weight and have been for several months, do not smoke and have realistic expectations for your procedure. Don’t expect to wake up with the arms of Madonna, but do expect an improved, tighter, smoother, younger looking version of your own.

Revitalize Sagging Breasts through Breast Lift Surgery!

There are many women who are unhappy with their breasts. The majority of these women are under the impression that breast augmentation is the cure all procedure for breast woes. While breast augmentation is used to create larger more full breasts, it may not be the procedure needed if your breasts have begun to sag. If your breasts have begun to sag, breast lift surgery may be needed to create the results you desire.

There are a number of reasons breasts begin to sag. Aging, genetics, breast feeding and significant weight loss are all contributing factors to sagging breasts. As the skin loses its elasticity, breasts begin to lose their shape and firmness. Breast lift surgery is designed to lift breasts into a more youthful position. Depending on the severity of the sagging of your breasts, your surgeon may remove excess skin before repositioning your breasts. Areolas may also be repositioned using breast lift surgery moving them higher on the breasts to make them appear more youthful.

Breast lift surgery can be performed alone but is often performed in conjunction with breast augmentation for women who not only want to lift their breasts, but also restore mass that has been lost. If you are unhappy with the way your breasts have begun to sag over the years, breast lift surgery may be for you. A consultation with a plastic surgeon will be needed to determine if breast lift surgery is right for you.

Tummy Tuck Scars

One of the concerns people have when considering a Tummy Tuck surgery are the scars. While some scarring is to be expected, the size and length of the scar greatly depends on the severity of the procedure. Patients who are in need of more extensive work will have a larger scar than those who’s lower abdomen is all that needs addressing.

Patients with abdomens which have a great deal of loose skin and pockets of fat will most likely need a full tummy tuck. During a full tummy tuck, your surgeon will tighten the abdominal muscles, removes fat deposits using liposuction and removes the excess sagging skin. Patients who undergo an extensive procedure such as this will generally have a scar that runs hip to hip. Patients who’s lower abdomen is the only area needing to be addressed may get away with a smaller scar as the procedure is not nearly as extensive.

When abdominoplasty is performed by a board certified plastic surgeon, they do their best to limit the necessary incision to reduce scarring. When possible they place the incisions in such a place that scarring can be hidden by clothing or a swim suit later on. See some examples of Tummy Tuck results and the scars in our Before and After Abdominoplasty Gallery.

Brachioplasty – Arm Improvement

There are a couple of factors which may lead to a person seeking out surgical treatment to improve the contour of their arms. Most common factors include individuals who have gone through a dramatic weight loss and are now left with excess sagging skin under their arms, and very often all over their bodies. Another common factor is people who have difficulty toning their arms due to pre-determined, genetics which can cause pockets of fatty cells in the arm area which are resistant to diet and exercise. Both of these groups of people can be helped through Brachioplasty.

Brachioplasty, or Arm Lift Surgery, is a procedure in which excess skin is removed. In cases where stubborn pockets of fat are also an issue, Liposuction is often used in conjunction with Arm Lift Surgery to provide the best results. For those with sagging, excess skin on other parts of the body, as well as under the arms, an Arm Lift Surgery may be done as a part of a whole Body Lift procedure to improve the contour of the body as a whole by removing excess skin.

Locate a doctor in your area today to find out if Arm Lift surgery could be for you.
