Financing Your Surgery

Some people rely on health insurance to cover the costs of surgery, but in actuality, if you are getting surgery for cosmetic purposes, the chances of being covered are slim. Generally, health insurance will not cover the costs of surgery or any related expenses and most people that seek plastic surgery are not able to pay the full amount upfront.

And, due to this fact and the challenging financial times we find ourselves in, My Plastic Surgeon USA is offering plastic surgery financing options to make covering these costs feasible.

Face Lift Procedure Information

A Facelift procedure typically will take several hours, sometimes longer. In some cases, your plastic surgeon may schedule two different sessions, depending on how extensive your case is.

Plastic surgeons use different approaches for facelift, depending on your bone structure and there technique. The location of the incision will also depend on your bone structure, but will be discussed with you during your consultation. Some plastic surgeons will complete one side of the face first, and then move on to the other side, and other plastic surgeons will move back in forth between the sides. This is dependent on the surgeon's technique.

Your plastic surgeon will typically make incisions above your hairline near the temples, extend it to the front of the ear, and continue to the rear of the earlobe to the lower scalp. If your case requires work on the neck, the plastic surgeon may also make an incision below the chin. The plastic surgeon will then separate the skin from both the fat and the muscle. The plastic surgeon will then tighten, after removing the fat, will tighten the main muscle and membrane, pull the skin back and then remove the excess skin. Stitches then secure the layers of tissue, and the incisions are closed. Depending on your specific case, metal clips may be used on the scalp.

A temporary tube, very small, will usually be placed under the skin, in order to drain any blood that may build up. Typically, your head will be wrapped up in bandages in order to reduce bruising and minimize swelling.

Rhinoplasty - The Procedure

Rhinoplasty, more commonly known as the 'Nose Job' or nose surgery can be used to correct physiological abnormalities and injuries. This common surgery can improve one's appearance by creating a nose that is proportionate to the rest of one's facial features, thus complimenting one's natural beauty. The results are often an increase in self-confidence and self-esteem.

Nose surgery usually takes 1-2 hours, but some procedures, depending on how complicated, can take up to several hours. Your plastic surgeon will separate the skin of the nose, from it supporting structure of bone a cartilage. After this is done, the plastic surgeon will sculpt the desired shape of your nose. This is very much on a case by case basis, as every patient will have different needs. The skin is then placed over the new structure your plastic surgeon created.

Many plastic surgeons choose to perform rhinoplasty from within the nose, which means that the incision is done inside the nostrils. This means no scarring for the patient. Other plastic surgeons, usually for more complicated procedures, choose to make the incision from the outside. This does leave the patient with a scar, but it is typically not noticeable.

After the completion of surgery, a splint will be placed on your nose to help maintain the shape and also for protection.

About Abdominoplasty Procedure

The abdominoplasty procedure, commonly referred to as the "Tummy Tuck" can be an effective way of eliminating excess fatty tissues and stretched skin, and even tightening weak and collapsed abdominal muscles, dramatically flattening the waistline. A full abdominoplasty will take anywhere from 2-5 hours. A partial abdominoplasty usually will take less than 2 hours.

The Procedure

Your plastic surgeon will make an incision from hipbone to hipbone. This is done right above the pubic area. A second incision is then made to free the navel from the surrounding tissue. With partial abdominoplasty, the incision is much shorter and the navel may not be moved, although it may be pulled into an unnatural shape as the skin is tightened and stitched.

Your plastic surgeon will then separate your skin from the abdominal wall, all the way up to your ribs. This will then reveal the vertical muscles in your abdomen. The muscles are then pulled close together, and then stitched into the new position. This is known as muscle tightening and will give you a firmer abdominal wall, and a narrower waistline.

The skin flap, is then stretched down and the extra skin is removed. For your navel, a new hole is cut and stitched in place. The incisions will then be stitched, and a temporary tube may be inserted to drain any excess fluid from the surgical area.

In a partial abdominoplasty the skin is only separated between the incision line and the navel.

The Blepharoplasty Procedure

Blepharoplasty surgery, or Eyelid Surgery, usually takes 1 - 3 hours, depending on the extent of the surgery. Typically, if you are having all four eyelids worked on, the plastic surgeon will work on the upper eyelids first, and then the lower eyelids. The plastic surgeon will make incisions in the creases of your upper eyelids and just below the lashes for the lower eyelids, which makes the incisions virtually undetectable. The plastic surgeon will then work through these incisions, removing the skin from the primary fatty tissue and muscle. The plastic surgeon will remove excess fat and usually will trim the extra skin and muscle. Your incisions will then be closed.

Success Stories from My Plastic Surgeon USA

There are many reasons that motivate people to consider cosmetic surgery, which range from a desire to achieve a certain aesthetic 'look', to reconstructive surgery to repair the damage from an accident or to correct the effects of surgery due to disease. Whatever your motivations, there are many benefits from cosmetic surgery that are not immediately evident on the outside; rather, they affect transformation within. Increased elf-esteem and self-confidence can be indirect, but powerful results of cosmetic surgery.

But, don't take our word for it, read what an actual patient has to say about the results of her elective surgery:

Lovely Ears

by Marilyn

Throughout my elementary and high school years, I was the butt of all jokes for having pointy ears. Because of this unsightly trait, other students would call me names like "Big Ears" or "Dumbo." It made me feel terrible! Before going to college, I decided to get Ear Pinning Surgery (Otoplasty) to prevent satire, ridicule and all other forms of mockery. I did not want to re-live my elementary and high school years.

In search for a plastic surgeon in my area, I decided to use the Internet to locate someone who was b
oard certified. On Google, I found Riverside Plastic Surgeon Dr. Alexander Carli on My Plastic Surgeon USA. Dr. Carli and his staff were extremely kind and knowledgeable of the field of plastic surgery. They assisted me both mentally and physically throughout the procedure. I am very thankful to both Dr. Carli and My Plastic Surgeon USA for helping me become a more confident and comfortable individual.

Working Moms are Big Fans of Botox

Starlets and superstars like those on the hit tv show "Desperate Housewives" aren't the typical users of Botox, says the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

It turns out , however, that most Botox users are the middle-aged working mothers in their 40s and 50s that the show depicts, according to a new ASAPS survey. The most frequently cited reason in the survey was "to look more relaxed, less stressed."

Breast Lift (Mastopexy) Information

Breast Lift (mastopexy) usually takes 1-3.5 hours. There are multiple techniques used for mastopexy, but the most common is an anchor-shaped incision. This follows the natural curve, or shape of the breast. This incision will outline the area of where the breast skin will be removed, and also will identify the new location of your nipple.

When the excess skin is removed, the nipple, and areola, are repositioned to the elevated position. The skin is then brought down and the breast is reshaped. Your plastic surgeon will usually put the stitches around the areola, and also along the lower crease of the breast, which will be virtually undetectable once it heals.

What You Should Know About the Safety of Plastic Surgery

When considering plastic surgery, it's natural to focus more on the end result than on the surgical process. However, to be fully informed, it's important to learn about the safety of the procedure as well as the expected outcome. Although thousands of people have plastic surgery every year without complications, no surgical procedure is risk-free.

To maximize safety, ensure that:
  • Your surgeon is adequately trained and is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery; any MD, can perform plastic surgery, however a doctor who is ABPS Board certified has 6 years of surgical training, specialized training in plastic surgery and is required to continuously update their knowledge and skills.
  • The facility where your surgery will be performed conforms to strict safety standards established by the Joint Commission of Hospital Organizations. Hospitals take up to a year preparing to pass this strict, on site inspection, geared to ensure patient safety.
  • Your surgeon is informed of any drugs you are taking and your full medical history, especially if you have had any circulation disorders, heart or lung ailments or problems with blood clots;
  • The surgical facility will use skilled, licensed personnel to administer and monitor your anesthesia and your recovery immediately following the procedure;
  • Extra safety measures are taken if you are having a more extensive procedure. Consult with your Surgeon if you have any concerns.

Liposuction for Men

It is easy to imagine your perfect body, isn't it?

Most of us picture a trim waistline, broad shoulders and chest, a flat stomach, and a generally athletic look. Aging, however, creates a different picture.

Men typically gain fat in the stomach (abdomen), breasts (commonly referred to as gynecomastia), the hips and also around the face, such as the chin or neck areas. Common to most men is the difficulty of losing fat in specific areas that diets and exercise just won't fix.

Liposuction is a very good option if you fall into this scenario. And, there's good news! Liposuction for men is in general extremely effective, not only because men keep there skin elasticity longer than women, but the areas of fat below the skin typically are firmer.

If you're a man thinking of Liposuction, search My Plastic Surgeon USA featured board certified plastic surgeons to find the best liposuction specialist in your area!
