How does a plastic surgeon become board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery?

- The plastic surgeon must graduate from an accredited school.
- Complete a combination of at least five years of general surgery and plastic surgery residency training.
- They then must pass a comprehensive written examination given by ABPS plastic surgeons.
- They then have to wait a year, if they pass, and then take the oral exams.
