Why Should Your Plastic Surgeon be Board Certified?

When considering a plastic surgery procedure like an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), face lift or rhinoplasty a very crucial aspect in your search for a plastic surgeon is to look into the doctor's Board Certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Inc. A Board Certified Plastic Surgeon means that the doctor has passed strict guidelines and is considered to be well adept to perform Plastic Surgery on their patients.

There are many ways to know if your doctor is Board Certified:
  1. The direct approach. To find out if a doctor is board certified, check the actual American Board of Medical Specialties page where you can directly search for your doctor's qualification.

  2. Identifying logos and organizations. In most cases when a doctor is associated with certain groups, such as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), these organizations require their members to be board certified. So a member of the ASPS or ASAPS means they are board certified.

  3. My Plastic Surgeon USA. It is absolutely mandatory that all doctors listed are board certified. Remember that My Plastic Surgeon USA is THE source for finding board certified plastic surgeons in your area.
