Treating Gynecomastia – Male Breast Reduction

Brought on during puberty, many adolescent men suffer from a condition known as Gynecomastia, or overdeveloped breasts tissue in men causing the chest to have a more feminine appearance than normal. While many men out grow this condition, some men never do and the condition can be especially traumatizing emotionally for these men. Gynecomastia has varying degrees of severity from slight to severe and occasionally it may even only develop in one breast instead of both.

For men with persistent Gynecomastia, a Male Breast Reduction surgery is often the best option for improving self-confidence and creating a more normal, masculine chest appearance. The incisions for this procedure are generally made around the areola, through which excess fatty and glandular tissue is removed. In some cases excess skin may also be removed and Liposuction is sometimes combined, if necessary, to create the best results.

The success rates for those who have undergone Male Breast Reduction is very high. Take a look a the Before and After Photo Gallery to get an idea of the results that are possible.  Then, schedule your consultation to learn more about if Male Breast Reduction is right for you.

Have You Seen The Results?

At My Plastic Surgeon USA we pride ourselves on providing reliable information on Plastic Surgery Procedures for our users as well as connecting our users with qualified, certified, and uber-skilled plastic surgeons. We could talk until we’re blue in the face about several of the talented Plastic Surgeons featured on our site, but frankly, that would get boring after a while and since this is blog, it wouldn’t be so much talking as writing and then you would be reading it- or not reading it, as would likely be the case, since it would be pages and pages long… not unlike this sentence is becoming.

So, here’s an idea: Go look at the work these Plastic Surgeons have been able to give their patients in our Before and After Photo Gallery. When you stumble across some work that inspires you (which we feel pretty certain you will, several times over), click on the Plastic Surgeon listed for that work and then maybe read a little about them, their skills and qualifications. If you still feel inspired, contact them and schedule a consultation to learn what they could do for you. After all, a photo is worth a thousand words, so why not start with the photos?

Follow the link to go to our Online Before and After Gallery! Warning: There are currently 3794 patients available for viewing in our gallery, that’s approximately worth 3,794,000,000 words!

Liposuction – Is It For Me?

The idea of Liposuction appeals to many people, what people don’t always realize, however, is that Liposuction is not a treatment for obesity. Liposuction, instead, is a valuable tool that is best used to improve a specific area of the body which has been resistant to change through diet and exercise alone. Liposuction is ideal for people who are in good health, at a steady, healthy weight and have realistic expectations for their results.

Many people who are in good health and at a healthy weight struggle with a part of their body with is disproportionately large and seems to hold on to fat even when the rest of your body is losing it. Liposuction can help to improve these areas by literally sucking out the excess fat cells in that area. Liposuction can be performed on virtually any area of the body. The most common areas are the mid-section, arms, and thighs.

Take a look at our Liposuction Before and After Gallery to get an idea of what kind of results are possible. Discuss your Liposuction options with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in your area.

Abdominoplasty Recovery

During your abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, consultation your Plastic Surgeon will explain what you can expect before, during, and after your procedure. Recovering from abdominoplasty, as with any surgery, takes time and it is important to follow the directions given to you by your surgeon very closely.

When you are waking up from the procedure, you will feel very groggy and your abdomen will be swollen. It is important that if you feel any discomfort you take your pain medication. Waiting until the pain is unbearable will only slow the healing process and may actually require you to take more pain medication to get the pain to subside. As time passes the pain and swelling will go down. After a few days the swelling should be almost gone and you will be left with some bruising.

You will be given direction as to what you can and can’t do in the weeks following surgery. It is important to follow these directions even if you think you are fine in order to limit the risk of post-op complications. There will be restrictions on movement, directions on showering and changing the dressings and how and when to take medications. Following doctor’s orders will not only lower the risk of complication but also give you a quicker recovery time.

The details of all post op care will be explained thoroughly before your procedure giving you the opportunity to ask any questions and address any concerns you may have. It is important to remember that recovery takes time and to listen to your body.

Eyelid Surgery – Blepharoplasty

When the effects of aging and genetics set in, some find that the skin around their eyes makes them look older than they want to.  The appearance of bags or puffiness under the eyes, excess sagging skin, droopiness of the lower eyelids and fine wrinkles on the lower lids are all things than can be corrected with a procedure called blepharoplasty.  After undergoing blepharoplasty, patients appear more youthful.

The outpatient procedure on both upper and lower lids takes about two hours. Small incisions are made at various points in or around the eye depending on weather or not the upper or lower lid is being corrected.  Through these incisions, fat can be redistributed or removed and the skin can be tightened.  The incision lines for both upper and lower eye lid procedures blend nicely with natural structure of the eye are are hardly noticeable.

Other procedures such as mid face lift, face lift, and neck lift in conjunction with blepharoplasty to restore your youthful look. The knowledge you receive during a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon will help you decide if blepharoplasty alone will offer the results you are looking for.

Breast Implant Exchange

There are a number of reasons a woman may need an implant exchange after her initial breast augmentation procedure. Some of the more common reasons an implant exchange may be necessary have to do with correcting their first implant procedure. This is partly why it is so important to research the surgeon performing your surgery as well as being well informed about breast implants before your surgery.

Women who need an implant exchange are most commonly correcting breast asymmetry. There are other much less common reasons a woman may need an implant exchange such as a leak in the implant. Saline implants that leak will be very noticeable leaving the women with a deflated looking breast. Leaking silicone implants are less noticeable but need to be replaced to avoid risk of any health complications. An MRI is needed to detect leaking silicone implants and should be performed every two years.

Breast implants are not meant to be lifelong devices. All breast augmentation patients will exchange their implants at some point in their life. The most common reason women voluntarily undergo implant exchange surgery is simply to increase or decrease the size or to change the type of implant they have. Implant exchange procedures are often less painful and require less recovery time than the initial surgery. A consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon will be needed to address your individual concerns.

Breast Revitalization – Breast Lift

There are many women who are unhappy with their breasts. Many women think that breast augmentation is the cure all procedure for their breast woes. While breast augmentation is used to create larger more full breasts, it may not be the procedure needed if your breasts have begun to sag. If your breasts have begun to sag, breast lift surgery may be better suited to create the results you desire.

There are a number of reasons breasts begin to sag. Aging, genetics, breast feeding and significant weight loss are all contributing factors to sagging breasts. As the skin loses its elasticity, breasts begin to lose their shape and firmness. Breast lift surgery is designed to lift breasts into a more youthful position. Depending on the severity of the sagging of your breasts, your surgeon may remove excess skin before repositioning your breasts. Areolas may also be repositioned using breast lift surgery moving them higher on the breasts to make them appear more youthful.

Breast lift surgery can be performed alone or performed in conjunction with breast augmentation for women who not only want to lift their breasts, but also restore mass that has been lost. If you are unhappy with the way your breasts have begun to sag over the years, breast lift surgery may be for you. A consultation with a plastic surgeon will be needed to determine if breast lift surgery is right for you.
