Breast Augmentation

Most people, when they look in the mirror, notice certain aspects about their bodies that they would like to change. Though most women are generally happy with the way they look, there is often one specific area they would like to alter - their breasts. Some don't like the fact that their breasts are too small or seem out of proportion to the rest of the body. Others may have breasts that sag or look "deflated." If you fall into one of these categories and you are ready to change your appearance by having fuller, more shapely breasts, please visit us at Advanced Aesthetics Surgery & Laser Center in Champaign, IL to discuss breast augmentation, also known as mammoplasty. This could be your first step toward realizing your desired goal!

Before you undergo breast augmentation, you will meet with Dr. Kurley to discuss what you like and don't like about your breasts. Dr. Kurley will also discuss your general physical health and will want to be certain you have realistic expectations about the outcome of the procedure. Dr. Kurley is a board certified plastic surgeon with over 19 years' experience in the use of breast implants. Breast Reduction

Women with very large, pendulous breasts may experience a variety of medical problems caused by the excessive weight. From back and neck pain to skin irritation, skeletal deformities and breathing problems, oversized breasts can be deleterious to a woman's physical health.

Additionally, unusually large breasts can make a woman or female teenager feel extremely self-conscious and be detrimental to her psychological health.

Breast reduction, technically known as reduction mammoplasty, is designed for such women. The procedure removes fat, glandular tissue, and skin from the breasts, thus making them smaller, lighter and firmer. It can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple. The goal is to give the woman smaller, better-shaped breasts in proportion with the rest of her body and consequently alleviating some of her medical problems. This can readily be performed in our AAAASF accredited, in-office surgical suite.

If you're considering breast reduction, Dr. Kurley can provide you specific information on how he would proceed in your particular situation.

Breast Lift

Over the years, factors such as pregnancy, nursing, and the force of gravity take their toll on a woman's breasts. As the skin loses its elasticity, the breasts often lose their shape and firmness and begin to sag. Breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure to raise and reshape sagging breastsóat least, for a time. No surgery can permanently delay the effects of gravity.

Mastopexy can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple. If your breasts are small or have lost volume (possibly from pregnancy), breast implants inserted in conjunction with mastopexy can increase both their firmness and their size.

If you're considering a breast lift, Dr. Kurley can provide you specific information on how he would proceed in your particular situation.

Liposuction

Liposuction body sculpting (or suction-assisted lipoplasty) has become one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures performed today. Proven safety, minimal scarring and outstanding results have made it the preferred method for removing fat from the hips, thighs, Buttock, and midriff, as well as areas of the face, neck and arms.

Liposuction is not an alternative to a healthy lifestyle, but can be very effective in removing fat from areas that do not respond to diet and exercise programs.

Suction-assisted lipectomy is performed in our AAAASF accredited, in-office surgical suite, under general or local anesthesia. A very narrow tube (cannula) is inserted into a small incision made in an inconspicuous place. Dr. Kurley then manipulates the cannula which is connected to a gentle syringe vacuum, breaking up fatty areas and suctioning out the fat.

Tummy Tuck

Abdominoplasty flattens the abdomen by removing excess fat and skin and tightening muscles of abdominal wall.

The best candidates for abdominoplasty are men or women who are in relatively good shape, but are bothered by a large fat deposit or loose abdominal skin that won't respond to diet or exercise.

The surgery performed in our AAAASF accredited, in-office surgical suite is particularly helpful to women who, through multiple pregnancies, have stretched their abdominal muscles and skin beyond the point where they can return to normal. Loss of skin elasticity in older patients, which frequently occurs with slight obesity, can also be improved.

Buttock Lift

The buttock is an area that we all want to appear as attractive as possible especially in form fitting clothes. Dr. Kurley offers a special technique to enhance the Buttock area. Buttock Contouring is best for patients whose Buttock are too large, misshapen, or whose hips and buttocks have a "boxy" or violin shape.

During the procedure, the Buttock area is reduced by removing fatty tissue through liposuction. However it is also necessary to redistribute the remaining fat to develop a firmer and more sculpted look. If the area appears too small the Buttock may need to be enhanced. This is usually done through taking fat from other areas of the body such as the abdomen and injecting it into the Buttock area.

After surgery, you will need at least 14 days of minimal activity. During this time, discomfort is mild, and easily relieved by medication. You can resume normal daily activity in two weeks.

Facelift

In older people, or those exposed to large amounts of sun or stress, wrinkled creased skin can develop on the face, neck or forehead, along with fat deposits and folds around the jaw and jowls. While a facelift can't stop the aging process, in many cases it can "turn back the clock."

Facelifts can be performed alone, or with other cosmetic procedures, such as eyelid or forehead surgery. Most are performed under anesthesia in our AAAASF accredited office surgical suite.

Depending on the area to be treated, facelifts usually involve incisions made along the hairline which extend around the ears to the lower scalp. The skin is lifted away from the fat and muscle underneath, and excess fat is removed. Dr. Kurley tightens the remaining tissue, and the skin is then replaced, tightened and secured with sutures or clips.

Swelling and minor discomfort last a few days, and stitches are usually removed within a week.

Eyelid Lift

Eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) is the preferred treatment for removing bags under the eyes or drooping eyelids, conditions that can add years to your appearance and even impair your vision.

Eyelid surgery may be performed under local anesthesia in our accredited, in-office surgical suite. Dr. Kurley will make tiny incisions along the natural lines of your eyelids through which excess fat, skin and muscle are removed. The incisions are closed with fine sutures which will leave scars that are practically invisible.

Most patients are back to their normal routines within days, although complete recovery may take a few weeks. Swelling, bruising and some discomfort are part of the recovery process, but usually can be alleviated with cold compresses and appropriate medication.

Laser Surgery

Probably no advance in technology has had more of an impact on cosmetic surgery than the development of laser surgery. Lasers work by emitting a powerful beam of focused light, which causes a superficial burn of the skin. As new living cells replace layers of dead skin cells the skin tightens and grows back smoother and almost wrinkle-free.

Among the advantages of laser surgery is that there is usually no need for hospitalization and there is no cutting or blood involved. Lasers are effective for treating sun-damaged skin, mild acne scarring, age spots and skin discolorations, and many facial scars and wrinkles.

Other effective laser therapy procedures include treating spider and/or varicose veins, hair removal, and tattoo removal.

LipoDissolveô

Pioneered by doctors in South America and Europe more than ten years ago, LipoDissolveô has quickly become the most patient-friendly procedure to permanently remove fat and help you attain that figure you desire.

A non-surgical alternative to liposuction, LipoDissolveô is a series of microinjections that simply melt away fat in unwanted areas. The injected fat deposits are broken down and emulsified. The by-products are then naturally excreted by the body.

LipoDissolveô does not require surgery. There are no risks from anesthesia and no incisions. The procedure is performed with a series of treatments in the office with minimal discomfort following the treatments. Most patients do not require any time off from work and experience little downtime.

Cellulite Removal

Cellulite, the build-up of fat cells beneath the skin, is a common condition among both women and men. It is often characterized by lumpy, uneven tissue (the dreaded "cottage cheese" look) around the thighs, buttocks and hips. Cellulite can appear just about anywhere on the body.

Poor circulation, improper body metabolism or an inability to properly eliminate waste, as well as poor nutrition or exercise habits, can make cellulite more apparent.

Cellulite may be treated by addressing the above conditions and through non-surgical procedures such as non-surgical cellulite removal.

Our process utilizes a specially designed machine that provides a deep massage to areas affected with cellulite. The firm kneading motion increases circulation to the area and stretches the fibers tethering the skin, causing an improvement in the appearance of the cellulite.

Laser Hair Removal

Using the latest technology, we are able to remove those unwanted hairs. This will ensure that you will never need to shave, or use other depilatory devices again.

Until now, the only options for removing unwanted hair were shaving, waxing, hair-removal creams, tweezing or electrolysis. These temporary and/or painful methods of hair removal can be eliminated by the latest technology. In the 1980s a Russian physicist, while developing the Ruby laser for defense purposes, accidentally lasered himself on the arm. He noticed that the hairs in the lasered area were vaporized and new hair growth occurred only after a number of months. As a result of this accident, laser hair removal was born.

Through repeated applications (to catch follicles in a growth stage), hair loss can be made permanent. This very fast technique is good for underarms, face (including eyebrows), legs, back, and most other skin surfaces.

We use the fastest system of hair removal on the market, the Cynosure Smartpil II Neodimium-YAG Laser, which is the next generation after the ruby laser.

Chemical Peel

Chemical peels (often called chemosurgery) use a chemical solution, applied by a trained healthcare professional, to remove the top layers of damaged skin. New cells formed during healing, produce a tighter, more youthful-looking skin.

Chemical peels have proven successful in restoring wrinkled, sun-damaged and blemished skin, and may be applied to the entire face, or specific areas such as the mouth or forehead.

MicroPeel®

The MicroPeel® is a three-part process. The first step is the exfoliation which removes the top layer of the skin that contains dead cells. The appearance of lines and brown spots is also reduced. The second step is the application of the Alphy Hydroxy Acid solution. This helps to unclog the pores of impurities. The third and final step is called Cryogenic Therapy. In this skin freezing process, carbon dioxide is applied to the face. The pores look smaller. Oil and blackheads are removed, and the skin surface is smoother.

Microdermabrasion

With Microdermabrasion, the outer layer of damaged skin is removed. This process allows the younger, softer skin to grow to the surface, promoting improved texture, color, and appearance. The procedure usually takes about 30 - 40 minutes.

This procedure is a common alternative to chemical peel. Call us today to schedule your consultation. During your visit, we will evaluate your condition and recommend whether you are a candidate.

Microdermabrasion treats:

  • Fine lines
  • Superficial age spots
  • Sun damaged skin
  • Blackheads

BOTOX® Cosmetic

Have those youthful facial expressions turned into permanent creases and wrinkles? BOTOX® Cosmetic is the answer.

The creases and wrinkles in your brow and between the eyes at the bridge of the nose can be relaxed to allow your skin to be smooth again. BOTOX® Cosmetic is also helpful with crow's feet, lip lines, and neckbands.

Dr. Kurley offers a personalized BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment program that relaxes the muscles and the skin for a smooth appearance. The effect usually lasts for three to six months, and can be repeated when needed.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a procedure that has been safely used to treat a variety of conditions for more than ten years. It is now FDA approved for the temporary treatment of frown lines.

Dr. Kurley and his staff may choose to use a local anesthetic cream or ice to minimize the discomfort. Once the injection is complete there is usually no lingering discomfort.

Radiesse®

Imagine young-looking, wrinkle-free skin!

Previously, the only way to fill these wrinkles was with a lifetime of bovine (cow) collagen injections, which can cause allergic reactions; or solid implants that can look and feel unnatural.

Now, there's Radiesse -- an innovative product that has been used for many years in prosthetic implants in dental, facial and orthopedic surgery. The product consists of calcium hydroxylapatite, which is a normal constituent of the bone and therefore should not cause inflammatory or immune reactions.

This filler is now being used for lip enlargement and filling folds and lines in the face to reduce signs of aging.

Radiesse does not require allergy testing. Treatments are performed in our office and take about 15 minutes. Radiesse is pre-loaded in syringes for use in treating and correcting your facial lines and other soft tissue defects. First we apply a little local anesthetic. Then Radiesse is injected into the wrinkle through a tiny needle, and placed just under your skin. Your results are immediate and long lasting.

If you want to get rid of your wrinkles with a safe, natural solution, Radiesse may be for you. Find out if you could benefit from Radiesse soft tissue enhancement. Call our office and arrange your private skin consultation.

Alloderm®

Dermal allografts are produced from human skin that has been treated to remove all but the basic building blocks of skin: the dermis. AlloDerm® is safe, regulated by the FDA, and has been used for over ten years in reconstructive surgery. Like collagen, AlloDerm® can be used to produce fuller lips, and to soften the folds that run from the nose to the mouth.

CosmoPlastô & CosmoDermô

Sometimes, no matter how youthful you feel, your face tells a different story. Sunlight, natural aging, and lifestyle factors can diminish the collagen layer that supports the skin. And where collagen diminishes, unwelcome lines and wrinkles may appear.

Now, for the first time ever, you can replace collagen through innovative new treatments from human collagen. They're called CosmoDerm and Cosmoplast, and they're changing the face of beauty.

Drawing upon the latest breakthroughs in skin science, CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast contain human collagen grown under controlled laboratory conditions. This human collagen is similar to the collagen normally found in the skin so there's no need for a pre-treatment skin test.

And here's the best part--No more skin testing means no more weeks of waiting for the results. Instead, you can smooth away telltale lines and wrinkles or add definition to the lip border with just one quick visit to your physician. And since recovery time is short, you can easily sneak in a treatment during your lunch hour.

Captiqueô

Captique is based on a non-animal hyaluronic acid. Captique is plant based. Hence, no pre-test is needed as one of it's main components, hyaluronic acid, occurs naturally in the body. Captique is a clear gel that can be injected into the lips as well as wrinkles, to provide a desired augmentation and refreshed, younger appearance.

Once injected it works together with your body's own hyaluronic acid and lasts longer than bovine-derived collagen, or human collagen.

Captique is most effective in reducing smile lines (marionette lines) around the nose and mouth. Its major benefits are:

  • Immediate treatment (no testing needed)
  • Instant and long lasting results (up to six months)
  • A simple procedure that can be done during your lunch hour.

During a personal consultation with Dr. Kurley, he will determine the most effective method to achieve your desired goal.
