Education and Experience for Ildiko Maria Mikos, M.D.
Meet Dr. Mikos
Dr. Mikos earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from the State University of New York in her hometown of Buffalo. Her undergraduate experience as a Summa Cum Laude graduate prepared her well for further studies at the University's School of Medicine, from which she earned her Doctorate in Medicine with high distinction in 1992.
For her post-graduate training, Dr. Mikos was accepted into the very competitive "integrated pathway" for plastic surgery training at one of the country's premier plastic surgery training centers. The University of Texas Southwestern/Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas. There, she finished three years of residency in General Surgery, and went on to complete two years of residency in Plastic Surgery.
In Dallas, Dr. Mikos was privileged to train with some of the nation's leaders in the fields of both aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery.
Following the completion of her residency, Dr. Mikos pursued a fellowship in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery in Atlanta, Georgia. There, she worked extensively with Carl R. Hartrampf, Jr. , one of the country's foremost breast reconstructive surgeons and the developer of the TRAM flap.
Dr. Mikos has effortlessly met the stringent criteria of the nation's highest governing plastic surgery body and has become certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 2001. She is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The Kentucky Medical Association and the Jefferson County Medical Society.
In addition to her achievements as a plastic surgeon, Dr. Mikos treasures her role as a wife and mother. She and her husband, George, live in Louisville with their two sons, Christopher and Anthony.
