Breast Augmentation

Dr. Gallico has performed breast augmentation at the Massachusetts General Hospital since 1973. This long experience with breast surgery allows him to provide surgical results according to the woman's desires. The choice of breast implant size and shape, position of incisions, type of breast implant, and nature of anesthesia will be yours. The pictures represent actual results of Dr. Gallico's breast augmentation surgery. Your results may vary depending on your desires for size and shape.

Dr. Gallico performs the surgery under general or twilight anesthesia (the patient will choose the anesthesia type she prefers) in a hospital operating room for optimal safety (not in a less safe office setting). The surgery will be completely planned in the office in advance where you will be able to try different implant sizes in the bra of your choice so that the size will be determined by you.

Facelift/Necklift

There are several surgical procedures that are available to tighten the skin of the face, cheeks, and neck. Depending on your needs as a patient, you should be able to select with your surgeon the type of procedure that is right for you. Be sure your surgeon can show you several different surgical procedures and what they can do for you.

Facelifts and necklifts decrease the excess fat under the chin, a double chin, and tighten the loose or sagging skin of Cheeks, Jowls, Jawline, and Neck.

Dr. Gallico performs surgery on the neck and face as several, different graded procedures to correct each patient's different needs. The neck fat, double chin, can be removed by liposuction that may shorten the period of recuperation.

If you are young and have excess fat under your chin (a double chin), liposuction alone may provide the result you want. This procedure can be combined with an augmentation of the chin to produce a more elegant line to the chin, jaw, and neck. Dr. Gallico will be able to show you both in a mirror and through computer simulation what possible results can be.

The effects of liposuction can be improved by tightening the muscle under the neck, which can be accomplished by a small incision under the chin. This technique of "muscle sling", which was developed by Dr. Gallico, will enhance the sculpting of the chin and jawline.

If you feel you are not yet ready for a "facelift", a necklift may be just right for you. This surgical procedure will tighten the loose skin and folds under the chin and jaw without requiring the tightening of the cheeks and mouth, which could produce a "too tight" appearance. Many plastic surgeons do not know how to perform this surgery and will demand a full facelift. Not everyone requires a full facelift. A necklift may be just right for you. Dr. Gallico will be able to show you what a necklift can do for you so that you may be able to choose this simpler procedure.

Dr.Gallico's facelift is thorough, but natural. The facelift is performed at three levels or layers, whereas the conventional facelift includes only one layer. This "three layer" procedure allows optimal tightening of the face and neck without creating the tight appearance of the cheeks and lips that occurs with the standard facelift.

Blepharoplasty

When we speak to each other, we focus on the eyes. Having the appearances of the eyes at their best is the best way to enhance our looks. Bright, open eyes project an image of alertness and youth.

Excess eyelid tissue and puffiness can be reduced by eyelid surgery. Over time everyone's eyelids develop new skin and loose muscles which fall in folds and fat which pushes out the skin. This operation, because of the concealed scars, is suitable for both men and women.

Lower eyelid fullness or 'bags' can be reduced through an incision inside the lid, which leaves no visible scar (transconjunctival), or under the lashes (which allows tightening of the skin as well).

Extra upper eyelid skin and fullness can be reduced with direct excision. Sometimes a 'fallen' eyebrow will contribute to excess upper eyelid skin and needs elevation through a Brow or Forehead lift to enhance the upper eyelid appearance (coronal, endoscopic, or temple).

Extra fat under the upper lid or brow, which causes puffiness, can be removed as well. And the muscle wrinkling of the skin between the eyebrows can be reduced by direct excision of the corrugator muscles or by Botox injection. Dr. Gallico has established the anatomic descriptions, which allow precise muscle reduction. Hollow areas over the cheeks may be filled by fat flaps from the lower lids, by cheek implants and by a mid-facelift.

Dr. Gallico has presented his techniques for mid-facelift and cheek implants at national and international conferences. When you discuss eyelid surgery with your plastic surgeon, be sure he/she understands the surgical procedures mentioned above and is prepared to offer you the individual surgical needs you require. Dr. Gallico performs the surgery through both internal (transconjunctival) and external approaches.

Nose Surgery

The nose can be reshaped outside and in to create a new more pleasing shape.

Dr. Gallico is recognized as one of the premiere nasal surgeons in the Northeast. He has been featured for his work in Boston Magazine. He regularly lectures to other plastic surgeons locally, nationally, and internationally on advances in nasal surgery.

He has pioneered in the use of computer graphics to help the patient to see in advance what the outcomes can be.

Nose surgery is performed as an outpatient under either general or twilight-local anesthesia depending on the patient's wishes.

Computer Imaging

Computer Graphic Visualization can be used to help plan cosmetic surgery in advance. Breakthroughs in computer graphics enable us to simulate some of the changes, which may happen with surgery. Digital photographic images of the patient from the front and side can be changed on the computer screen to give the patient an idea of what various surgical procedures may do. The computer is an excellent tool for helping the surgeon and the patient understand what can and cannot be achieved.

Dr. Gallico has developed his own particular computer visualizing system which capitalizes on his training in art school to provide as realistic an understanding of postoperative appearances as possible. Dr. Gallico is on of a few plastic surgeons in Boston offering computer visualization. He has lectured at national meetings on computer graphics, and his contributions to the field have been featured in Boston Magazine, CBS, and NBC.

Computer imaging is best applied for nose, chin, and neck surgery. As a potential patient for these types of surgery you should be sure that your surgeon provides you with a computer projection of the anticipated appearance. You do not want to undergo surgery without some idea of what you will look like afterward.
